Deloris Colleen Frick left this earth and was joined with the love of her life, Dean, on October 7, 2022 at Heritage Woods. Colleen was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on September 17, 1929, to the late Alonzo and Eva (Glasco) McMillin. On November 3, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas she married her one love, Marvin Dean Frick. They were inseparable and blessed with 69 years of a very happy marriage before the passing of Dean on January 11, 2021.
Colleen is survived by her son, Marvin Ray Frick and wife, Sandra, of Bonnie, Illinois, daughter Charla Jean Walls and husband, Mark of Inverness, Florida, grandson, Jacob Ryan Frick of Bonnie, Illinois, brothers Jimmie (Betty) McMillin and Lonnie McMillin all of Rector, Arkansas, Stanley (Jeri) McMillin of Jonesboro, Arkansas, brother-in-law, John Frick Jr. of Evansville, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Charlene Frick, sister Erma Jean Dover and sister-in law, Lana McMillin.
Colleen was a lifelong partner to her husband in his farming operation. Every day that Dean went to the field, Colleen was working right by his side. She told the story many times that they would come home for lunch every day. She would fix their lunch and after they finished eating, while she was cleaning up the dishes, Dean would take a nap! When the cleanup was finished, she would awake Dean and back to the field they would go. She would always laugh and say, “I am not sure why I never got to nap”.
She was a loving wife, mom, mother-in-law, and Granny. Although she loved her husband and children dearly, her greatest joy was being “Granny” to her grandson, Bub (Jacob). They spent countless hours together cooking, playing, and making a lifetime of memories. She loved cooking, gardening, and her flowers, but most of all her “Bub”. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Per Colleen’s request there will be no public visitation. Private family graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on October 10 at the Abner Cemetery in Nason, Illinois, officiated by the Reverend Tim Reynolds. Per the family’s request in lieu of flowers memorials in Colleen’s Memory should be given to the Abner Cemetery and can be sent to the family or Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, Illinois, who is in charge of the services.
“The only thing better than having you for our mom, was our son having you for a Granny”.
