Andy Martin Hutchens, 87 of Ina went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
He was born on November 8, 1932, in Franklin County, IL, the son of George Riley and H. Ferne (Pearce) Hutchens. He married Jane Frances (Dykes) Hutchens on December 8, 1962, and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2020.
Andy is survived by his Son, Robert Martin Hutchens and wife Kathy of Ewing, 2 Grandsons, Wade Martin Hutchens and Cole Robert Hutchens, brothers Bill Hutchens and Larry Hutchens, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, sisters Lyda Mae Larmer and Barbara Greenwood, nephew Tim Akers and niece Dee Burns.
Andy owned and operated Shamrock Bit in Ina. He had also worked for Freeman Coal, Old Ben Coal and Inland Steel. Andy also farmed for many years. Andy was still serving as Mayor of Ina, a position he had held for over 31 years. Andy was a Christian and a member of Central Christian Church. He served in the Air Force in Korea as a forward observer. He was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Elks, Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Scottish Rite.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 7th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with Mr. Randy Sells & Bro. Brad Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
We are limited to 25 people in our building at a time. We ask everyone attending to be considerate of others and practice social distancing and masks are recommended.
