Bert W. Wooden, 84, of Mt. Vernon passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his home.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL on June 25, 1935, the son of Roy & Crete (Anderson) Wooden.
He was a talented carpenter and woodworker.
Mr. Wooden was the Maintenance Carpenter at Mt. Vernon Township High School for 23 years. Mr. Wooden was talented in so many ways. He was a lifelong nature lover. He attended the Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church. 
He married Pamela J. (Miller) Griffy on June 25, 1994.

Daughter: Shelley Wankel & husband Larry of New Baden
Son: Greg Wooden & fiancee` Cathy of Fairview Heghts, IL

Jenny White & husband Daniel of Mt. Vernon
Jeff Griffy & wife Candice of Fenton, MO

Wesley & Sammy Griffy
1 Sister: Mary Milner of Houston, TX
Mr. Wooden was preceded in death by his Parents, by 2 Sisters-Martha & Natalie and 3 Brothers-Wesley, Harvey & Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 23rd at the Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Shores officiating. Burial will be in the Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Church.
