Delores Clinton Obituary

DELORES ANN "ANN" CLINTON, 87, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away on February 23, 2026 at GreenTree Memory Care surrounded by her family.

Ann was born at her grandparents' home in Shiloh Township, Jefferson County, November 25, 1938. This may have been partly why she felt so close to her grandmother and called the farm "home." Ann was known for preferring her grandparents' home to her own, which did not often sit well with her mother.

Ann was the daughter of Courtney Williams and Dorothy (Ragan) Williams.

Ann was a grade school and high school cheerleader. Her husband, Tom, played football for the Mt. Vernon Rams. They met at a grade school ball game and were married at the First Baptist Church on November 9, 1956. Dad and Mom celebrated 67 years of marriage before Dad passed away in 2023.

Ann received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois. She went on to study at the University of Evansville, Indiana, for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ann was very proud of her accomplishments in nursing, rightly so. Her career began at Doctors' Park in Mt. Vernon. She was also employed as Director of Nursing at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon and St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, and had taken numerous ambulance runs to St. Louis with critical patients. While at St. Mary's, Ann served in several departments, including surgery, the ICU, the 3rd floor, and, for many years, in telemetry. She completed her career in telemetry. Many times, Ann worked over her 12-hour shift because she was concerned for and dedicated to her patients.

She was respected and honored at St. Mary's Hospital. At retirement, a photo of herself and Dr. Kahn was unveiled and hung above the main hallway for a time.

Ann enjoyed many hobbies, including her rose garden and fruit trees, and after retirement, she began a flower arrangement business, "Ann's Flowers." Of course, the time she spent with her sons was the most cherished.

Ann is survived by her sons, Kevin (Becky) Clinton and Jerry (Nina) Clinton of Woodlawn

Grandchildren: Dustin Clinton of Mt. Vernon, Carlie Jenkins (Garrison) of Louisville, Kentucky, Jeremy (Jessica) Clinton, Ryan (Morgan) Clinton, and Kyle Clinton of Woodlawn

Great-Grandchildren: Cassidy Jenkins, Kaylynn and Jacob Clinton, Gracelyn and Caroline Clinton, Kynlee and Jarrett Clinton.

Ann is also survived by a brother, Roy (Lynn) Williams of Benton, Illinois.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Courtney and Dorothy Williams, her husband, Tom Clinton, an infant sister, Vercie Ruth, her favorite Uncle Chan, and  Aunt Freda Williams, Charlotte (Ragan), and Uncle Harmon Pigg, Uncle Charles (Bea) Ragan.
