(Harry) Marvin Payne passed away at Sparta Community Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the age of 88.
Marvin, also known as “Sock”, was born January 6, 1932 to Plummer and Ina Payne in Arthur, Illinois. As a young man, he proudly served his country as a United States Marine in the Korean War. Marvin would also go to work at Neal Brothers Roofing Company where he would eventually become part owner.
Marvin was blessed with four children and they survive:
Marvin “Sock” Payne and wife Millie of Rising Fawn, Georgia
Linda McMaster of Coulterville, Illinois
Jeff Payne of Ewing, Illinois
Anne Fullerton and husband Mike of Coulterville, Illinois.
He is also survived by a brother, Russell Payne and wife Martha, a sister-in-law, Delores Payne, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Floyd Payne, his sisters, Donna Reynolds and Mary Ann Aldridge, and his companion and friend of more than 30 years, Mary Baker.
Private Graveside services will be held at Kirk Cemetery in Ina, Illinois with Bro. Brad Ryan and Bro. Dale Burzynski officiating.
