Judy Slamans Obituary

Judy Kay Slamans, 78, of Aurora, IL. transitioned to her eternal home with Jesus on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Kay was born January 9, 1943 in Chicago Heights, IL to Orvel and Alberta (Odle) Sweetin. Kay grew up in Ina, IL and graduated from Mt. Vernon Twp High School in 1961. Kay attended FWB Bible College and married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Slamans, on February 10, 1962.

Tom and Kay raised their family in Aurora, IL. The Lord blessed them with four amazing boys - Bruce (Susan) Slamans, Eric (Tammy) Slamans, Tim (Carmyn) Slamans and Andy (Deanna) Slamans.

Her life’s mission was to love and serve people. While raising the kids, Kay received her Bachelor’s degree from Lewis University. She worked for DCFS for the State of Illinois from 1990 to 2001.

Kay was an active member at Butterfield Community Church and later High Point Church. In her younger years, she ministered to women in the Kane County Jail and seniors in nursing homes.

Above all, Kay was most proud of the family she and Tom built. Kay would always be found in the midst of the action with her grandkids. She leaves behind a legacy of 13 grandchildren - Brad (Jenelle) Slamans, Kyle (Danielle) Slamans, Nathan (Kari) Slamans, Ashlyn (Jake) Ochoa, Cody (Savannah) Slamans, Todd (Ashe) Slamans, Keeley (Tim) Peterson, Tyler (Arianna) Slamans, Colton Slamans, Kobe Slamans, Clayton Slamans, Korri Slamans and AJ Slamans.

Kay’s love and care continued on to the next generation, leaving behind nine great grandchildren - Collin, Annaliese and Kinsley (Brad and Jenelle Slamans); Quinn and Levi (Kyle and Danielle Slamans); Isabella, Issac and Benjamin (Nathan and Kari Slamans), and Mateo (Ashlyn and Jake Ochoa). Kay was looking forward to the birth of her tenth great grandchild to Keeley and Tim Peterson in February.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lenard and Jack Sweetin, and a grandson, Kobe Slamans.
