(Lois) Kathleen (Presley) Bumpus passed from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on September 10, 2022, at Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Kathleen was born September 14, 1924, in rural Ina, Illinois to Clarence and Irene (Wayland) Presley.
She is survived by sons Lyle and Stan (Mary), and nephews Ryan, Jake (Jessica), Shawn, David (Kayla), Daniel (Daniela), Steven, and great-grandson Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Reverend Lloyd Bumpus, step-son David E. Bumpus, son John M. Bumpus, her parents, and her siblings Dallas (Mary Ellen) Presley, Alvin (Ruth) Presley, Geraldine Bumpus, and Evelyn (Joe) Huddleston. She graduated from Ina High School, Mt. Zion/Browns Chapel (Albion), Enfield, and St. Francisville. They retired from full time ministry in 1985, and she served as church secretary for Wesley UMC in Mt. Vernon for more than ten years.
She was a devoted wife and mother who sacrificed her personal interests to serve and care for others. She was a loyal mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was especially proud of all her successful grandsons and the men of high character they have become. She was deeply loved and highly respected by her sons, grandsons, and daughter-in-law. She enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was unpretentious and had no need to impress others, only God. She was a woman of strong faith, high moral values, and strong convictions. She was a faithful and active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was hard working, and enjoyed quilting and sewing, gardening, playing board games, and she was a voracious reader.
