Mary Dolores Payne Obituary

Mrs. (Mary) Dolores Hale Payne, age 93, of Ina, Illinois entered into her heavenly home surrounded by her family members on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Dolores was born March 27, 1928 in Jefferson County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Herschel and Ophel Hale.  She graduated from Ina School then attended Free Will Baptist Bible College (Welch College) in the 1948/1949 school year.  She was involved in a VBS ministry during her college time.

She was united in marriage on September 28, 1950 to Floyd Payne.  They were married for 53 years until his death in 2004.  Also deceased is one of her sons, Kevin Payne of Franklin, Tennessee. 

Dolores was a charter member of the Ina Free Will Baptist Church and taught Sunday School class for 60 years as well as having a puppet ministry.  She loved her church and missed it when unable to attend.  Dolores was a farmer’s wife and she enjoyed reading books, especially her Bible, playing games with her grandchildren and puzzling.  She was dedicated to her Lord, her church, and her family.

Survivors include one sister, Voris Adams of Belle Rive, IL; one brother-in-law, Russell (Martha) Payne of Ina, IL; seven children, Karla (Glysal) Mizelle of Bristol, VA, Mark (Carol) Payne of Bonnie, IL, Dawana (Myron) Broadway of Burnsville, MS, Anita (Mike) Price of Statesboro, GA, Harlan (Susan) Payne of Ina, IL, Steven (Lori) Payne of Ina, IL, Garret (Carmella) Payne of Ina, IL; twenty-three grandchildren, David (Christi) Mizelle, Jason (Kim) Mizelle, Shavon (Rhett) Bussler, Jessica (Johnny) Hollis, Kimberly (Tony) Jenkins, Troy (Grace) Payne, Alisa (Cody) Hiller, Logan (Faith) Payne, Benjamin Payne, Nathan (Laura Beth) Payne, Samuel (Christy) Payne, Amanda (Cameron) Dykes, John (Lindsay) Broadway, Rebecca McKinney, Angela (Jose) Alvarez, Matthew Broadway, Ashley (Drew) Bigley, Melanie Cepec, Dillon Payne, Justin Payne, Jonathan (Destinee) Payne, Ryan Payne, Danielle Payne; and fifty-one great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service and Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Ryan officiating.  The family will start receiving visitors at 2:00 pm followed by the service at 5:00 pm.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
