Robert Lewis Reed

Robert Lewis Reed, age 89, formerly of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away June 18, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL.

Robert was born to Roy and Ora (Winemiller) Reed on August 9, 1931 in Macedonia, IL. He married Evadene Summers and they had four children. He retired from the maintenance department at Mt. Vernon Township High School and was a U.S. Veteran.

Robert is survived by two daughters Sherry (Reed) McDermott and Joetta (Reed) Devine, grandsons Justin Reed, Travis Reed, Jonathan Reed, Jordan Devine, Gage Devine, Kyle McDermott, Ryan McDermott, and one brother Curt Reed, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Evadene (Summers) Reed, two sons Bobby Reed and Matthew Reed, two brothers Orval Reed and Lee Roy Reed, two sisters Pearl (Reed) Blackwell and Darlene (Reed) Nalley.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 22nd at the Kirk Cemetery in Ina with Pastor Russell Anderson officiating and Military Rites will be conducted by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141. Those attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery.
