Virgil Lovin Obituary

Virgil Lovin passed away Thursday evening, February 24, 2022 in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Lovin was born in Neelyville, MO on September 26, 1931, the son of Fred Albert & Edith Irene (Smith) Lovin.
As a teenager Virgil worked mowing yards or building fires for elder people and carrying the paper mornings before school. He was honorably discharged from the Navy. He worked locally at Holland Furnace Company, Anchor Coal Company cleaning furnaces. He was a warehouse manager for Benoist Brothers Heating Supplies. He was a service man on heating equipment for Sears and self employed doing the same. Later he worked for Little Debbie company as a semi driver and became a distributor for them.  He was the first to bring Little Debbie cakes to Mt. Vernon. Then he sold batteries for Electro Battery company. Son in law Daniel encouraged him to sell batteries on his own. So with his help he did and opened Lovin's Distributing in 1974. Later sold to Danny Coker and continued working for him at Battery Specialist till he retired. 
Virgil is survived by his loving daughters Sylvia "Irene" (Lovin) Hernandez and Naomi Yvonne (Lovin) Morris. 
Grandchildren Crystal and Travis Marlow, Mario Hernandez Jr., Wesley and Christina Head, Robert Head, Eric and Miriam Morris, Rachel, Elisabeth and Sarah Gill.
He was blessed with several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lovin was preceded in death by his his parents, his siblings Herbert Lenzy, Lula Aline, Albert Fred and Mildred Lorene (Lovin) Abbe; wife Norma Geraldine (Prowell) Lovin; daughter Dorothy Renee (Lovin) Gill and Son in law Mario "Daniel" Hernandez Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 26th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina. Burial will be in the Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
