Hugh Sigwerth, 77, of Ina, died peacefully at home at 8:20pm on Tuesday, Nov 1st. He was surrounded by his wife and sons.
Hugh was born at home in Waltonville, IL on Feb 1, 1945 to Clarence and Martha (Mannen) Sigwerth. His maternal grandparents were James and Myrtle (Porter) Mannen. His paternal grandparents were Joseph and Lora (Wagner) Sigwerth. Hugh married the love of his life, Michelle Fae Williams on Sep 13, 1966. They had two sons, Darrell and Paul.
Hugh enlisted in the US Navy in Sep 1965 and is a Vietnam Veteran. Hugh was a forklift driver at Equipto in Aurora, IL and at Sonoco in W. Chicago, IL. Hugh was known for his ability to fix just about anything around the house or autos, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to help others. He enjoyed spending time with family and doing yard work.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife, Michelle and two sons, Darrell (Lisa) Sigwerth and Paul (Anwaar) Sigwerth; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Billy, Andy, Alex, Gloria, and Christopher (fiancé Bre); four great-grandchildren, Josephine, Francesca, Bennett and Avi; and two brothers, Bob (Tommy) Sigwerth and Darrell (Joanne) Sigwerth.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha (Mannen) Sigwerth; his sisters, Vivian Sigwerth, Myrtle Sigwerth, and Maeryta Rainey; and his brothers Charles (Jean) Sigwerth and Clarence “Dude” (Ruth) Sigwerth.
There will be a graveside service at Knob Prairie Cemetery on Sunday, Nov 6th at Noon. Ed Sprinkle will officiate. The Mount Vernon American Legion Post 141 will be giving full military honors.
